When you change a DETAIL relating to a recurring event, the Datebooks give you the option whether to make the change for all, future or only the current event. But you don't get the same option when you want to change the event NAME. I can work around this by entering the meeting location or other detail change in the 'Note' for that appointment, but this means I have to click on that icon to view the location rather than just look at the main entry.
